At Ascotuk, we are passionate about horses and their welfare. We believe in treating every horse with the respect and care they deserve.
Our Story: Inspired by Esmie
Over a decade ago, our journey into hay steaming began with one very special horse—Esmie. Every spring and summer, she struggled with persistent nasal discharge and respiratory discomfort, later diagnosed as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Conventional treatments offered limited relief, and we knew we had to find a better way to support her health and comfort.
Driven by Esmie's needs, we began researching how to reduce airborne allergens and irritants commonly found in dry hay. That led us to develop our first hay steamer—designed and built by hand, right here on the farm. The results were immediate and encouraging: Esmie’s symptoms eased, her breathing improved, and she could enjoy her forage without distress.
What started as a personal solution quickly grew into a mission. We realized that many horses suffer from similar respiratory issues, and that hay steaming could offer a practical, effective way to support equine health. Today, our hay steamers are trusted by horse owners, yards, and professionals across the UK and around the world, helping horses breathe easier and thrive.
Esmie was the reason we started. Her legacy continues in every steamer we build—with care, quality, and a deep understanding of what horses truly need.
Our team has over 12 years of experience in the equestrian industry. We have the knowledge and skills to provide top-quality services to our clients.
Ascotuk was founded in 2013 by husband-and-wife team Adrian and Sam. Adrian, our visionary lead designer, began experimenting with compact heating systems in their home workshop. As prototypes evolved, Sam—then working full-time in the medical sector—recognized the venture’s potential and joined Adrian to drive product development. Together they tested multiple iterations before settling on a food-grade plastic heating module engineered specifically to eliminate carcinogenic risks associated with standard plastics.
Tragically, Adrian passed away in 2022. Sam, determined to preserve their shared dream, stepped into the CEO role and has since piloted Ascotuk through a new era of growth. Under her stewardship, the company has:
Our next-generation steamer, HS Pro, is engineered for stables and yards with multiple horses in constant rotation. Key features include:
